Soccerq,

I'm not sure if your question is in reference to the earlier-posted references to Nikki G and Lisa N or not. But, since I am guessing they are, I promise I will attempt to write a reasonable answer.

One the one hand, soccer is a team game and there is no doubt Wayne is a very good TEAM. Definitely, the team is more important than any one player, and if Wayne beat Centerville today, it'll be because the TEAM has succeeded.

That said, there is no denying that Nikki G and Lisa N were / are the 'star' players on the team. That's just the way it is. In my opinion, there is definite validity to your point (and it is well-taken); however, facts are facts. Omitting pertinent information when reporting, and doing so in favor of political correctness, can never be good journalism.

Is it really necessary to mention a player who is not eligible when talking about the Warriors? There is no question this player has alot of talent and could accomplish great things athletically and academically but should she constantly receive press when she did not even play on her high school team last year and cannot play any of the tournament with the team this year?

How about you focus on the remaining Wayne Warriors who are working very hard to win the District Title this season. There are more than 2 players on a soccer team.

Good Luck Centerville and Wayne - should be great game.

If Wayne plays as well as they did against the Beavers, they will beat Centerville.
I predict a Wayne win 2 to 1 over the Elks. It will be a very physical, skilled game to watch. A lot of technical talent on both teams should guarantee a thrilling game. Good luck to both teams!

Seen Centerville twice and Wayne once, I'll take Centerville. Better goalie, outside speed (Henery?) and overall team skill. Wayne’s advantage is Lisa N..... and she is outstanding ... but not enough to overcome Centerville’s depth. (The way I predict this almost guarantees a Wayne victory / I’ll still stick with the elks)

The last time these two teams squared off it was a 1-1 tie. Wayne has the speed advantage that may be accentuated on Northmonts field turf. I give the egde at keeper to Centerville...I agree gooner...could be decided in extra time.

On a monsoon-like evening, the Wayne Warriors (minus a.w.o.l star Nikki Gallegos) really took it to the Beavercreek Beavers and handed out a good spanking. Yet, the first 10 minutes didn't suggest such an outcome at all. Creek dominated those minutes while Wayne timidly tried to stay in the game. Suddenly, after ten minutes had elapsed, Wayne came to life and it was t4h beginning of the end for Creek.

Creek took the lead with a well-struck free-kick from just outsisde the penalty area. It wasn't too long, though, before the score was level at 1-1. Wayne's other star Lisa N sidstepped a Creek defender with ease and smacked the ball into the top of the net - all in one smooth, very classy movement. Then, just before half-time, Wayne used a direct free kick to good effect, driving the ball into the Creek penalty area. In a near-instant melee, it was a Wayne player who was able to get on the end of things and bundle the ball into the net.

In the second half, Wayne didn't allow Creek any opportunity to get back into the game, fairly quickly going 3-1 up following a dyamic cross and neatly-taken header. In the endless wetness, the contest was well and truly ended by a fourth Wayne goal, a free kick from exactly the same spot from which Creek had scored their solitary goal. It was a fitting end to the game's scoring sequence.

Next up for Wayne is Centerville. Place your bets? I'll say: a win in either extra-time or by penalty shootout for . . ?
